Beginner Bike Ride at Thunder Mountain Bike Park

New to mountain biking? This mountain biking lesson is the perfect way to kick off your downhill journey, designed to introduce first-timers to the excitement of lift-access trails in a safe and supportive environment. Set in one of the Northeast’s top-rated bike parks surrounded by Berkshire mountain views.
With the guidance of experienced coaches, you'll learn essential skills like body positioning, braking, shifting, and cornering on beginner-friendly terrain. After building confidence in the skills area, you'll head out to ride Sugar Line—Thunder Mountain’s green trail known for its smooth, flowy ride through scenic forest. Riders who progress quickly may even get to sample a low-intermediate blue trail. It’s an unforgettable introduction to mountain biking in one of the top bike parks in the Northeast.

Ages & Requirements

  1. Minimum age: 10 years old
  2. Participants must know how to ride a bike prior to the 101 lesson.
  3. You may only take ONE 101 lesson.
  4. You may not ride the lift before the lesson. 
  5. Participants are not permitted to pick up their rental until 15 minutes before the lesson start time.

You’re welcome to bring your own equipment if you prefer, but your bike should be suitable for downhill riding.

Cancellation Policy

We retain a 5% cancellation fee for any cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance of your scheduled program. All reservations are non-refundable 48 hours or less to your scheduled program with exceptions for bike park closures.
