Surfari Surf School’s mission is to offer great surf lessons, surf camps, surfboard and stand up paddleboard lessons and rentals. Surf with confidence  with lessons from Surfari’s qualified surf instructors.  Or just rent a surfboard or paddleboard for your own San Diego surf session.

Surfari Surf Shop is conveniently located next to the beach at Mission Bay – home to San Diego’s most exciting water sports adventures and a top family destination.

Lesson Information

Surfari Surf lessons are for people of all ages and abilities. You will learn the proper techniques for paddling, positioning on the board, standing, and wave selection. After the lesson, you may use the board to practice the skills you learned for one hour.  Surfari’s qualified surf instructors will select the best equipment for your ability level or you may bring your own.

Lesson Includes:
• Use of surfboard and leash
• Use of wetsuit and/or rash-guard t-shirt
• 1-hour of practice time after the instructor’s lesson
• Complimentary bathrooms and lockers in the surf shop

Where We Surf

Surfari Surf School offers daily surfing lessons in the beautiful location of Mission Beach, California.  The shop is located a short walk from the beach.  Mission Beach offers a great place to learn to surf, with fantastic waves and consistent surf.


Q Where do I meet for my surf lessons?

Please meet at our location, Surfari Surf School. Our address is 3740 Mission Boulevard in Mission Beach, California.

Q What should I bring to a surf lesson?

Bring sunscreen, swimsuit, a towel, and water.

Q How early should I arrive?

Arrive 30 minutes before class to ensure a parking spot, put on your wetsuit, and sign your waiver.

Q How good of a swimmer do I have to be?

If you can swim with your head above water you will be all right. Weaker swimmers will be kept in shallow water at all times.

Q Are there stores and restaurants in the area?

There are many restaurants and shops with in walking distance. Some restaurants in the area include Rosario Pizza, Better Buzz Coffee Roasters, Guava Beach, The Olive Cafe, and Miss B’s Coconut Cafe.

Q Where do I park?

There is a free public parking lot located 2 blocks South of our location at the Santa Clara traffic light. In addition, there is also a pay to park lot 2 blocks North of our location.

Q Are there restrooms nearby?

Surfari Surf School is equipped with public restrooms.

Q Are kids allowed to join the lessons?

Yes! We always have room for young surfers!
