FAQs
Are your LA bike tours suited for all levels of riders?
Yes! We welcome all levels of bike riders on our daily LA bike tours, from the novice bike rider to the cycling enthusiast. If you are comfortable riding a bike, you will enjoy our tours. This tour is considered moderate to mildly challenging. Some hills but nothing to worry about (it's called Beverly Hills for a reason!). Average fitness level required. You must be comfortable on a bike.
What should we do with our personal belongings while on the tour?
Our bikes in LA come with handlebar pouches where you can stow their small belongings such as phones, keys, cameras, etc. Guests with larger bags can leave their bags with our Bikes and Hikes LA staff, and pick them up after the tour.
Is it safe to bike in Los Angeles?
Yes. Our top priority is the safety of our guests. We have designed each of our tours to showcase the best locations in LA, while also keeping guests safe on the road. We avoid major thoroughfares and heavily trafficked freeways. Our local LA tour guides are experts in bike safety and maintenance and are trained in navigating LA’s busiest streets. Upon checking in to your LA bike tour, guests will sign a safety waiver and receive bike helmets and reflective safety vests. All guests undergo a safety briefing with our LA bike tour guides before departure to ensure guests understand traffic rules and regulations and safe riding practices. Safety is our top priority, and the above precautions make for a safe, fun ride.
Do I have to book in advance?
We highly recommend that you purchase your tour tickets in advance of your preferred tour date. By doing so, you are guaranteed a spot. Waiting to book runs the risk of the tour being sold out on the day you’d like to take it if you haven’t booked your tour in advance.
Do you serve food and beverages on the tour?
We provide water for guests on all of our biking tours. Should you be interested in a snack before or after your tour, we offer snacks for purchase at our West Hollywood Bike Shop.
The LA in a Day tour includes a stop for lunch at the beach, not included in the tour price. We have a special deal with a great restaurant at the beach that offers a high-energy lunch—expect to spend about $10-12 on this option. Alternatively, you can opt for other dining selections on the Venice Boardwalk, where your group will stop for lunch.
What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
Should we need to cancel a tour due to inclement weather, we will contact you on the day of the tour. Our policy is to either offer you the opportunity to reschedule your LA tour for a different day or to offer you a refund for the tour. When you book your tour, please be sure to include your cell phone number or a local number where we can reach you as well as an email address.
Is there restroom access on your LA tour routes?
Yes, we will include at least one stop with restroom facilities.
Do you offer any special tour arrangements for children or my family?
A very popular option for families traveling with children is to book a private biking tour of LA. Your expert LA guide will be assigned to your group and take you on a family-friendly custom experience the whole family will love! You can book a private tour at this link.
I noticed in the reservation form I had to provide a phone number. However, I’m not from the United States, and I only have a foreign number. What should I do?
No problem! You can provide us with a foreign phone number and/or the name and number of the hotel at which you’re staying in LA.
Where does my LA tour end? Can we finish the tour at a different location or head back to our hotel?
All of our LA tours start and finish at the same location. Unfortunately, we cannot finish a bike tour at a different location because guests must return bicycles to our office.
What kind of bicycles we will ride on our LA tour?
We offer pedal bikes, as mentioned above, as well as electric bikes. Guests can upgrade from a regular bike to an e-bike on any of our bike tours. All of our bikes are well-maintained and in excellent condition.
What should I eat before a guided bike tour?
We recommend that guests participating in any of our bike tours eat a hearty breakfast before boarding! It’s important for guests to be well-fed and hydrated before embarking on a guided bike tour. We recommend plenty of protein, complex carbs, and water before the tour. Pro-tip: check in EARLY for your tour, and a member of our bike tour staff will happily recommend several local LA restaurants to grab breakfast before your tour.
I’m comfortable riding a bike, but it’s been a while, and I’ve heard that there are hills on the tour. Do you offer Los Angeles electric bike tours?
All of our daily bike tours have the option for guests to upgrade to an electric bike. Our fleet of electric bikes offers a smoother, pedal-assisted ride, allowing guests to ride and take in the sights with ease. We highly recommend guests looking for an easier, enjoyable ride take our electric bike tours of LA!
