Please also be respectful of any marine animals including but not limited to turtles, rays, sharks, seals, and dolphins. Please never chase, harass, feed, or TOUCH any of the marine species. Enjoy their company if they approach from a distance and calmly move away from them if in their path.

What hotels do you pick up from in San Juan?
Most of our private, luxury tours depart from the Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino at 1309 Ashford Ave, San Juan, 00907, Puerto Rico.
What should I bring to visit Puerto Rico's bio bays?
We recommend bringing your bathing suit, a towel, insect repellent, water shoes or sandals with straps, and a pair of clothing to wear after our private tour. Unlike most Puerto Rico tours, we actually swim at La Parguera Bioluminescent Bay.

Will there be a language barrier between me and my guide?
All of our guides are fully bilingual in English and Spanish!
What makes this tour different from other rainforest tours?
This tour includes the 2 most impressive inland natural wonders among things to do in Puerto Rico Tropical Forests as a tourist: visit our best example of a Tropical Rainforest, Toro Negro and do Las Delicias waterfall and La Piedra Escrita. You'll get to see the Puerto Rico very few ever see, so it's designed to have a slow pace to give you the opportunity to learn about the history of the island and discover our favorite under-the-radar spots.
Why should I do the additional Snorkeling, Sunset and Bio bay tour?
On this additional tour, you will have the opportunity to experience the bioluminescence in La Parguera. Caracoles Cay's warm, turquoise and crystal clear waters rival famed Flamenco Beach in Culebra, with the added benefit that you can swim; La Parguera is the only bioluminescent bay that allows swimming.
Is it safe to swim in bioluminescent waters?
Swimming in the bioluminescence waters does not pose any additional risk to us or to the dinoflagellates. It feels no different from regular sea water other than the bay is a bit warmer due to limited water flow. It is also a bit saltier because there were salt mines in the area, but this makes it easier to float. We also have foam noodles that you can use to float even easier.
Can my young children swim in the bio bay?
As long as you as the parent are comfortable with it, your children can participate in all activities. We provide life vests for all ages and sizes.
How much walking is involved?
All of our stops are curated to provide maximum views and excitement with minimal walking. For example, in the rainforest, our visits to the creek and waterfall are between 20 and 50 feet from the car, so this trip is very accessible for young children as well as more mature travelers.
Do you take photos on the trip?
Yes, your guide will take photos each day, and we share these with you after the trip for no additional charge. You are also welcome to bring your camera and cell phone to take more photos.
What sunscreen can I use and why does it matter?
Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems.
Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’
Are there sharks?
Shark incidents in Puerto Rico’s waters are extremely rare, and serious injuries are even rarer. When you enter the ocean, it’s important to remember that it’s a natural, wild environment with many types of marine life, including sharks. Although the chances of a shark-related injury are very low, they are still part of the ocean’s ecosystem, and the ocean should be approached with respect. By learning about sharks and following safety guidelines, you can minimize even this small risk.
Can I snorkel if I wear glasses?
Standard eyeglasses can’t be worn with a snorkel mask, but prescription masks are available for those who need vision correction while snorkeling. If you’re interested, consider looking into a prescription mask option before your tour. Alternatively, contact lenses can be worn under a snorkel mask, though it’s best to close your eyes if water enters to prevent losing a lens.
Can you go underwater with a snorkel?
Yes, snorkels allow you to breathe with your face in the water at the surface. If you’d like to dive down, though, water will enter the snorkel, so you’ll need to hold your breath until you resurface. Once back at the surface, you can clear the snorkel by blowing out the air in your mouth hard. That should clear the snorkel, but if it doesn’t, tread the water, remove the snorkel from your mouth and dump the mouthpiece out.
