Description

Explore Culebra Island - Flamenco Beach!

A worldwide attraction known for its white sandy beach and crystal clear, shallow waters – great for smaller children to snorkel and join in the fun! Flamenco Beach is considered by many as one of the Top Ten beaches in the world! After a scenic cruise to Culebra, we spend the morning exploring the world famous, white sandy beach, snorkeling, playing with the paddle boards, or simply relaxing and enjoying your fabulous day. Lunch will be served at this magical place, followed with some snorkeling time!
We start with a “101” snorkeling learning session and briefing before getting in the water about safety and snorkeling. Your guide (we are the only tour operator with professional snorkeling guides in the water) will help you to identify the corals, marine life and where to snorkel to see the widest variety of sea life.
Coral reefs are considered the Tropical Rainforest of the underwater world. The reefs are one of the most productive ecosystems on the planet, making it the perfect place to explore while snorkeling. On an adventure at Culebra’s coral reefs it's possible to have a close encounter with angel fishes, lobsters, sting rays, and many colorful fish!

FAQs

Do I need to know how to swim?

We always play by the rule “safety first”, so we provide you with a life vest and carry a rescue tube, in this way you will have buoyancy and will feel comfortable and safe in the water.

Do I need to rent or bring the gear for any trip?

No, in every trip Pure Adventure will provide you with all the necessary equipment, so as our guest, you will have fewer things to carry.

What should I wear for the trip?

For any trip, you’ll come prepared to get soaked wet, or a bathing suit or clothes that can get wet. Although, we recommend you to bring water shoes and extra clothes for after the trip. For the daytime tours we also recommend bringing sun protection such as sunglasses, hats, etc.

Will you give us any water or snacks, or we have to bring them?

We’ll give it to you. We believe water sports are strongly important to be hydrated all the time. As a matter of fact we’ll provide you with plenty of water, local fruits, and for full days adventures we provide you with lunch.

Is it safe for kids?

Yes, but the minimum age for any of our trips is 6 years old. Our personnel are completely trained on safety and rescue management. In this way kids and parents will feel comfortable all the time. It is very important to notify us how many kids will be on the trip and their age.

Should I bring a camera?

Yes if it is a waterproof camera. If not, we recommend you to not bring it. We take a lot of pictures on most of our trips and send you one photo via email as a gift and reminder of your memorable day.

What sunscreen can I use and why does it matter?

Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems.

Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’

Are there sharks?

Shark incidents in Puerto Rico’s waters are extremely rare, and serious injuries are even rarer. When you enter the ocean, it’s important to remember that it’s a natural, wild environment with many types of marine life, including sharks. Although the chances of a shark-related injury are very low, they are still part of the ocean’s ecosystem, and the ocean should be approached with respect. By learning about sharks and following safety guidelines, you can minimize even this small risk.

Can I snorkel if I wear glasses?

Standard eyeglasses can’t be worn with a snorkel mask, but prescription masks are available for those who need vision correction while snorkeling. If you’re interested, consider looking into a prescription mask option before your tour. Alternatively, contact lenses can be worn under a snorkel mask, though it’s best to close your eyes if water enters to prevent losing a lens.

Can you go underwater with a snorkel?

Yes, snorkels allow you to breathe with your face in the water at the surface. If you’d like to dive down, though, water will enter the snorkel, so you’ll need to hold your breath until you resurface. Once back at the surface, you can clear the snorkel by blowing out the air in your mouth hard. That should clear the snorkel, but if it doesn’t, tread the water, remove the snorkel from your mouth and dump the mouthpiece out.
