Description
Private Columbia Gorge E-Bike Tour - Thunder Island to Bonneville
Pedal into the heart of the Columbia River Gorge, where dramatic landscapes and rich history collide. This scenic e-bike tour begins with a peaceful ride over to Thunder Island, offering incredible views framed by the iconic Bridge of the Gods. Your guide will share the story of the region, shaped by ancient floods, shifting geology, and Indigenous culture.
We then merge onto the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail—a car-free bike path that winds through the forest under shaded cliffs, with creeks coming in on the sides. Our turnaround point is the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, a hidden gem where you’ll learn about local conservation efforts and maybe even spot Herman the sturgeon!
Along the way, you’ll learn about the Gorge’s recovery from the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire, a human-caused wildfire that burned over 48,000 acres. Your guide will share the story of the fire’s impact—on the landscape, local communities, and trail systems—as well as how native plants and forests are making a slow but powerful comeback.
This privately guided e-bike tour is perfect for families or casual riders looking for a shorter route with minimal elevation gain. With roughly 90% of the ride on vehicle-free bike paths, it offers a peaceful and scenic way to explore the Gorge. Shade along the route keeps things cool on hot summer days, and the slower pace allows plenty of time to learn, relax, and connect with the landscape around you.

Do I need previous experience?
While the e-bike provides a lot of added propulsion, comfort, and fun, we recommend that you find yourself comfortable and self-assured riding on a bike: balancing yourself, shifting gears, braking, and navigating basic traffic.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Helmets are required and will be provided. Our helmets are cleaned daily and are very comfortable.
Are drinks and food included in the price?
We provide snack bars (GF/DF) for our daily tours. There will also be water to fill water bottles at the beginning, and several places along the tour to fill up. We ask that you please bring your own water bottle, if you have one.
Do I have to book a tour in advance?
To ensure there is plenty of room and bicycles for you and your friends/family, we highly recommend reserving in advance.
What happens if it rains or is too hot?
If it becomes too hot or too wet, we will use our best discretion on whether to change our itinerary for a different direction or hold out for the rain to stop or postpone for a later date. It is our main concern to keep everyone safe and have the most enjoyable day possible.
Can I bring my kids on the tour if they are under 16?
Yes, you can! The State of Oregon requires that anyone pedaling an e-bike to be 16 years of age or older, but we offer Burley ‘BEE’ bike trailers to accommodate the little ones (2 passengers, up to 100 pounds). Please note: your child should be able to be comfortable for the duration of the tour.
Pets are permitted in the trailers as well.
