High Altitude Paddling at Colorado's Beautiful Barr Lake
Rentals are offered at Barr Lake early season as the water levels continue to drop through the summer. Barr Lake is a unique location as it allows lake recreation use during late spring/early summer and then is slowly drained as the local farming community uses the water for irrigation. Located in the northern outskirt of the metro area, this is a great location for those near Brighton, Denver, and Thornton.
Looking for a long distance paddle? Then, this is the location to go to with it's massive size and beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains. Discover this Colorado state park known for it's premier bird watching. Located just north of Denver, this activity makes for a perfect outdoor outing with your friends or family. You don't have to live near the coast in order to enjoy paddle sports! We offer state-of-the-art equipment and all rentals come with all required equipment. So what are you waiting for? This is a seasonal activity, Barr Lake rentals offered May, June and September.

Barr Lake is a state park, and as such requires a visitor use fee ($10) that is not included in the cost of rentals.

Can I take my vessels to another lake?
For hourly rentals, boats must remain in the body of water rentals are operated on.
What is the parking like?
All parking is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Vehicles are required to display their paid day-use pass.
Do I need experience?
It depends on what your goals are, but chances are you can enjoy your time on the water without advanced know-how!
Are pets allowed?
Dogs are not permitted in the water. They are allowed on leash on trails, except for in the wildlife preserve section.
What days are rentals available at Barr Lake?
Rentals are available only on weekends and holidays during the summer months.
Can you do walk-up rentals or are reservations required?
Reservations are required for kayak, canoe, and SUP rentals at Barr Lake.
How many people can fit in a canoe?
Up to 3 people can fit on the canoe rental and all individuals must be able to swim.
Are the kayak rentals at Barr Lake sit inside or sit on top kayaks?
Both the single and tandem kayaks are sit-on-top kayaks.
How many people can fit on the tandem kayak?
The tandem kayak is meant to fit 2 people however two adults can fit a child in the middle of the tandem kayak if they prefer. There is not a 3rd seat in the middle, just enough space for a child to sit while the adults paddle.

Customers will receive a full refund or credit towards future availability with at least 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive credit or refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Please contact us by email to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.
Please note, reservations do not grant preemptory rights over other visitors to access the parks we operate at in the event the park is temporarily closed or otherwise restricted.
